Information used by the app
Local network information
The app uses Apple local-network and Bonjour technologies to discover compatible televisions and remote-control services on the same network as your device. This may involve local device names, service identifiers, local IP addresses, ports, television model information, and—in limited cases—a network adapter address used for power-on functionality.
This information is used to find, identify, connect to, and control televisions. Remote commands are sent directly from your device to the selected television over your local network.
Remembered televisions
After a successful connection, the app may store television details on your device so the television remains available when it is powered off or temporarily unavailable. Remembered televisions are scoped to the associated local network. You can remove this information by deleting the app.
Pairing credentials and security information
Depending on the television platform, the app may create or receive pairing certificates, private keys, client keys, authentication tokens, device identifiers, or a Wi-Fi MAC address used for Wake-on-LAN. Sensitive credentials are stored in Apple’s Keychain on your device and are used only to authenticate with the relevant television.
Advertising and consent
Universal Remote uses Google Mobile Ads to display advertising. Google and its partners may process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, general device information, ad interactions, diagnostics, and approximate location inferred from an IP address. The precise information processed depends on your region, consent choices, device settings, and whether Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission is granted.
The app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent where required. If App Tracking Transparency is available, the app may also ask for permission before allowing tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. Denying tracking permission does not prevent you from using the remote-control features.
You can revisit applicable advertising choices from the Advertising Privacy menu inside the app. You can also control Apple’s tracking permission in iOS Settings.
For more information about how Google handles data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Information Farr Out Apps receives
Farr Out Apps does not currently provide user accounts, cloud synchronization, or a developer-operated analytics service for Universal Remote. Farr Out Apps therefore does not receive your saved television list, pairing credentials, Keychain contents, or individual remote-control commands.
Third-party services integrated into the app, including Google Mobile Ads and its consent tools, may receive information as described above and under their own policies.
Retention and deletion
Remembered television information remains on your device until the app’s local data is removed. Keychain items may persist after the app is deleted as part of Apple’s secure credential behavior. Reinstalling the app may allow it to use previously stored credentials. Device settings and Keychain data can be reset by erasing the device; you may also contact us through the support page if you need assistance.
Advertising providers retain information according to their own policies and your consent choices.
Children’s privacy
Universal Remote is not directed to children under 13, and Farr Out Apps does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The app is not intended for Apple’s Kids Category.
Security
The app uses platform security features, including Apple Keychain, to protect television credentials stored on your device. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices
- Decline App Tracking Transparency permission.
- Review available advertising privacy choices inside the app.
- Disable local-network permission in iOS Settings, which will prevent television discovery and control.
- Delete the app to remove its ordinary local data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app, its third-party services, or legal requirements change. The latest version will remain available at this URL with an updated effective date.
